Grand Canyon Day 3 (rest day)

Today we rested, or called it a "Duff Day" because we got to sit on our duff all day:

This is the water of the Little Colorado River. Very blue because of the Uranium deposits upstream. Much slower and warmer than The Colorado River, made for good swimming:

I took my own picture so I'd actually get to be in one:

We scrambled out to some rock ledges to get a view of rafters going by. Sometimes they stop and give backpackers a beer. None of the ones we saw did.

Grand Canyon day 4

We hiked back downstream today, to our first camp spot near Tanner Rapids. This time we knew the distance and conditions so we got an earlier start and it was a lot easier:

Grand Canyon Day 5 (day hike)

Messy campsite. Our group increased by two as Kyle's friends Garret and Chris met up with us at this area, and we all took a day hike together:

Hike to an overlook at Unkar Delta, very cool views, some of the best on the entire trip:

Garret overlooking big cliffs:

My favorite shot:

Hiked to the top of a small overlook, Brian stayed back and took these pictures:

Grand Canyon Day 6

Today was going to be a long, tough day, so we got a pre-dawn start and hiked by headlamps for the first few hours

Me, Kyle, Brian, Chris, & Garrett:

Stopped at sunrise to make coffee and breakfast nearly half way up at this point:

Where the sun is hitting is our destination, the rim at Lipan point:

Still going:

Looking back into the canyon from the trailhead, this is Unkar Delta where we had taken a day hike to yesterday, so far away in such a small amount of time, I was on a serious zoom for this shot:

Me, bruised and battered, but stronger:
